ChainEX in the Community: Bitcoin at the Boplaas Padstal Open Day
Guess the price, win Bitcoin. The ChainEX team spent the weekend at the Boplaas Padstal Open Day introducing Bitcoin to the Kouga community.
This past Saturday we swapped trading screens for a farm stall. The ChainEX team set up shop at the Boplaas Padstal Open Day on the R102 between Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp — purple tent, orange visors, and a big screen running a very popular game: guess the Bitcoin price.

Bringing Bitcoin to the Kouga community
Our stall was simple: team members in ChainEX tees, branded visors and caps, and a monitor showing the live BTC/ZAR price — R1 345 170 on the day, if you're curious. Locals could walk up, scan a QR code, and enter the competition in about 30 seconds.

More importantly, it gave us the chance to do what we love: explaining Bitcoin to people who had never traded it before. From "is it safe?" to "how do I even buy some?" — every question got an answer, right between the boerewors rolls and the Koze soft-serve.
The competition
Entries closed at 12:00 SAST, and the closest guess to the 13:00 BTC/ZAR price walked away with R1 000 in Bitcoin. To enter, participants had to register as ChainEX users — so a few more locals joined the exchange on the spot.

And the winner is...
Congratulations to Kirsty S., whose guess of R1 352 470 came closest to the locked 13:00 price of R1 351 306.94 — just R1 163.06 off. She takes home R1 000 in Bitcoin. The runner-up, Ruan G., was only R1 306.94 behind, so this one went right down to the wire.
Why events like this matter
Crypto can feel distant and technical. A farm stall, kids running around, and a Bitcoin price on a big screen make it human. ChainEX is proudly South African-built and locally owned, and audiences like the Kouga community are exactly who we build for.
Keep an eye on our socials — we might pop up at a market near you next.
A big thank you to the Boplaas Padstal team for hosting a great Open Day. If you have not been: proper butchery, farm-stall food, coffee, and room for the kids — worth a stop on the R102. Visit them at boplaaspadstal.co.za.
